We want to expand the circle of medaka lovers!

Niigata Prefecture’s largest medaka festival will be held on Sunday, May 26 at Takada Joshi Park Lawn in Joetsu City.

Niigata Medaka Festival” is one of the largest medaka festivals in Niigata Prefecture, held annually to expand the circle of medaka lovers in Niigata Prefecture and to develop medaka into a culture like Nishikigoi. The first festival was held in Nagaoka City, the second in Niigata City, and the third will be held for the first time at Takada Joshi Park Lawn.

Medaka breeders and enthusiasts from within and outside of the prefecture will gather at the event and sell individuals at 33 booths. Some of the rare varieties, which are not easily seen in the prefecture, will be on display and for sale.

In addition to sales, there will be fun activities such as medaka scooping (500 yen per scoop) and a medaka auction.

In addition, there will be booths selling handmade goods, goldfish, insects, succulents, etc. Nine kitchen cars will sell food, drinks, and other gourmet items.
