Manjyudo has been in business for 50 years and is located in the hot spring resort of Akakura in Myoko City, Niigata Prefecture. It is known for being the first company in the area to begin selling onsen manjuu (hot spring buns).
Onsen manjuu 100 yen per bun
Manjyudo offers only two types of onsen manju (hot spring buns) with “white sugar” and “brown sugar” for the skin. We sell only two types of Onsen-manju and carefully select the best. Onsen manjyu are made with red beans produced in Hokkaido. No preservatives are used.
Onsen manjuu, brown sugar
The rich red bean paste is not too sweet and has a light and mild taste. Why don’t you compare the two kinds?
In addition, there is a store next door that you may be interested in…
Left: Manjyudo Right: Krone
Manjido’s new hot dog specialty restaurant, Krone. Opened last December, Krone offers unusual hot dogs made with pretzel, a German bread. The sausages, a speciality of the restaurant, are made from “Tonki,” a brand of pork from Kahoku City, Ishikawa Prefecture.
When you order, they cook the sausage right in front of you. After browning the sausages, they are covered with a lid and steamed. The grilled sausage is served on a pretzel dog and topped with sauerkraut (German pickled cabbage).
Pretzel dog, regular size (herb): 800 yen
The bread is crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside with a slight saltiness. The sausage is crispy and juicy, and the aroma of herb sausage wafts through your nose.
Chorizo 450 yen
The sausage can be ordered separately. Even before you bite into the chorizo, you can smell the aroma just by putting it in your mouth. It is full of juices and spicy enough for even small children to eat.
Anko soft 500 yen
In addition, “Anko Soft” was developed as a new specialty of Akakura Onsen. To create a product that is unique to Manjyudo, it is topped with the sweet bean paste of an onsen manju (a sweet bean jelly made from the sweet bean paste of an onsen bun).
Try the harmony of rich soft-serve ice cream and Manjyudo’s smooth bean paste.
