“Sennen-no-yu” in Mizuguchizawa, Tokamachi City, Niigata Prefecture, is a day-trip hot spring facility where visitors can enjoy hot spring water from the source.
footbath
It opened in 1995 and reopened in its current form 21 years ago.The facility is so popular among the locals that some people go there every day.
This hot spring is neither heated nor circulated, and is a sodium hydrogencarbonate/chlorides spring (slightly alkaline, hypotonic high hot spring). It is said to wash away fat and secretions from the surface of the skin, making it a beautiful skin care bath.
open air bath
The large bathhouse has an indoor bath and large and small outdoor baths.
hinoki cypress (Chamaecyparis obtusa)
The indoor baths include a cobblestone bath and a hinoki (Japanese cypress) bath, with men and women changing on a weekly basis.
bathtub heated from below
The boulder baths are made of professionally selected boulders from the Shinano River that runs through Tokamachi City, and the hinoki baths have the hems of the tubs made of Japanese cypress.
This is a family bath available for private use.
Many handrails have been installed so that people with disabilities and the elderly can safely soak in the bathtub.Use of the family baths is by advance reservation only, and the fee is 1,200 yen for 90 minutes (admission fee not included).Of course, this family bath is also free-flowing hot-spring water. You can spend time together as a family.
You can enjoy an extensive menu of meals at this facility, but none of them are made at this facility. The system is that if you buy a meal ticket here, you can order from a nearby restaurant and have it delivered to you.
It is approximately 550 meters from the Sennen no Yu to Kojimaya Sohonten, which is well known for its hegisoba (buckwheat noodles).Other restaurants are also located close by, which means that delivery is possible.
This is the “Ten Seiro” ordered at Kojimaya Sohonten. The soba is wrapped and the sauce comes in a packet, so you can enjoy it just as it tastes in the restaurant. All the dishes brought from each restaurant are professional in taste. At this facility, you can soak in the hot water, relieve your fatigue, and enjoy even more delicious food.
