Many fun events will be held in connection with the New Year and the 2021 zodiac “Ox”!

The Municipal Aquarium Umigatari in Joetsu City, Niigata Prefecture, is open 7 days a week during the year-end and New Year holidays.

A New Year’s event will be held from December 28th (Monday) to January 31st (Sunday) 2021.The New Year’s events are as follows. “Kingashin Pen” where Magellanic Penguins greet the New Year, “Eto Water Tank” which displays creatures associated with the New Year’s Zodiac “Ushi”, Original Omikuji “Umigatari Penguins Mikuji 2021” “Etc.

Magellanic penguins give New Year’s greetings “Kinga Pen”

■ Location: Dolphin Stadium on the 3rd floor

Next year is the year of Ox! Exhibition of cows in the sea “Eto Water Tank”

■ Location: Lobby on the 3rd floor
In honor of the 2021 zodiac sign “Ox”, we will exhibit the colorful “Umiushi” and the unique shape of “Ushinoshita”, which is a member of the flatfish.

Umigatari Penguins Mikuji 2021

■ Period: December 28th (Monday) -January 31st, 2021 (Sunday)
■ Location: In front of the museum shop “Legaro” on the 1st floor
■ Price: 100 yen each time (limited to 4,000 sheets / ends as soon as it runs out)
