1.Features of slopes and courses

It is a ski resort owned by a resort facility that is only a 7-minute drive from the Arai Smart IC on the Joshinetsu Expressway, making access an attractive feature. The name was changed to “Arai Mountain Resort” this season.

The resort is based on the concept of a “Genuine Luxury Mountain Resort” and was awarded Japan’s Best Ski Resort 2020 at the World Ski Awards in the past. It is one of Asia’s top-class resorts, recognized around the world.

The slopes are vast, and 80% of the ski area is unpaved, making it known as a sanctuary of powder snow.

The highest point on the slopes is 1,280 meters above sea level. The longest run is 7 kilometers, and there are 14 courses (36% beginner, 36% intermediate, 21% advanced, and 7% super advanced) with a wide variety of courses from beginner to advanced.

The non-pressure free riding zone, which boasts an overwhelming amount of snow and is one of the largest in Japan, has a total of 10 areas (20% intermediate, 60% advanced, and 20% super-advanced). However, there are some courses that cannot be skied depending on the season, such as in early spring.

This season we are starting a “Snow Guiding Service” where guides will show you recommended powder areas based on the weather and conditions of the day. Experienced and knowledgeable local guides will guide you according to the weather and snow conditions on the slopes that day, as well as the skill level of the user. This service is also recommended for those who want to try and enjoy freeriding in the future. English guiding courses are also available for foreigners.

There is a wide range of activities other than skiing and snowboarding.

At the “HIZUME” snow experience area, visitors can enjoy 15 different items such as tubing, sledding, and air-boarding (2200 yen for 90 minutes). Other activities include a kids’ garden, snow drive tours, snow rafting, zip tours, and giant kamakura making, as well as an indoor playground and craft experience that can be enjoyed even in bad weather, and an indoor swimming pool.

The magnificent location of the Oomemashi Mountain and the view of the ocean on a clear day make for an unparalleled experience.

The Gondola Restaurant Village is directly connected to the first floor of the Village Station, the gondola boarding area, and offers a diverse menu.

In addition to the hearty “Wagyu Stewed Beef Bowl” and “Pork Fat and Garlic Yakisoba,” Niigata’s unique menu includes “Pork Bone Soy Sauce Ramen,” “Niigata’s Famous Tare Katsu Don” and “Katsu Curry.
In addition, there is a café lounge “MYOKO COFFEE” at the Village Station, and “Sky Restaurant ZEN” at the Zendana Station at the end of the Arai Gondola, which offers a wide range of dishes including curry, ramen, steak, and fried chicken.
