The ski season has finally arrived!

Many ski resorts in the city are scheduled to open on December 13 (Fri.) and 14 (Sat.) due to the good snowfall along the mountains of Myoko City, Niigata Prefecture. Those involved are busy preparing the slopes and other preparations.

In the Myoko Plateau area, a large amount of snow has fallen since last week, and it has been a blessing for the ski resorts. At the Akakura Kanko Resort ski resort in Myoko City, the snowfall as of Thursday, December 12, was approximately 1 meter near the gondola exit. The forecast is for more snow to fall on Friday the 13th, and since the amount of snow needed for course maintenance is expected to continue, the resort has decided to open on Saturday the 14th as scheduled.

It fell at the right time,” said Naohide Miyashita, deputy manager of Akakura Kanko Resort & Spa. Especially near the top of the mountain, there has been a large amount of snowfall. Last year the opening was delayed, but this year we are right on schedule and can’t wait for the opening day.

The course to be opened is a portion of the 10 trails that use the gondola, and we will decide on the course on Friday the 13th when we will pressurize the snow.

Akakura Kanko Resort ski resort renewed this fall a gondola that had been in use for about 40 years. The new gondola features large windows that allow visitors to enjoy the scenery even more. The height of the gondola is approximately 2.1 meters higher than before. This means that even tall foreign tourists can get on and off the gondola without having to bend down, and snowboards and other equipment can be smoothly brought in.

The red gondola looks beautiful in the snow, and you can enjoy the view from the large window. I hope you will enjoy the view from the large windows of the red gondola, which looks beautiful in the snow. We have been getting a good amount of snow, so I hope we can continue to have a good season with our guests.

Myoko City’s Suginohara Ski Resort will open the earliest on Friday the 13th, and most of the ski resorts are scheduled to open on Saturday the 14th. Cupid Valley Ski Resort in Joetsu City is scheduled to open on Saturday, the 21st of this month. For more information, please visit each ski resort’s website.

Last year, some ski resorts in Myoko City introduced an automatic ticket gate system that opens when a special IC card is held over the gate at the lift station. According to Akakura Kanko Resort, last year the cards were handed over at the counter on the day of use, which sometimes caused congestion, but this year the system has been changed to one where the cards are sent by mail to those who purchased them in advance via the Internet, such as for early-bird discounts.
