An event to create one-of-a-kind wreaths using autumn-leaf hydrangeas will be held in Akakura, Myoko City, Niigata Prefecture, on Thursday, October 31, Friday, November 1, and Saturday, November 2. Participants are being sought.
The hydrangeas around Akakura are at their best in the summer, but after that, the flowers lose their moisture and the leaves turn a calm, deep color without withering. This is said to be due to the unique climate and environment of the plateau at 800 meters above sea level. Akakura has held an annual wreath-making event utilizing these hydrangeas for more than 10 years.
Many people look forward to making wreaths every year, and participants come from as far away as Aichi and Chiba prefectures.
The wreaths are said to last longer if they are displayed in a well-ventilated place, and many participants each year bring wreaths they made in previous years and enjoy recycling them by replacing the hydrangeas with new ones.
Why not join us and enjoy making a one-of-a-kind wreath?
