The 27th Echigo Yoshikawa Sake Festival, an event featuring 200 popular brands of sake from all over Japan, will be held in Yoshikawa-ku, Joetsu City, Niigata Prefecture, on Sunday, October 6.
The Echigo Yoshikawa Sake Festival started in 1996 when Yoshikawa Ward was still the town of Yoshikawa under the name “Sake Symposium” and was later renamed the “Echigo Yoshikawa Sake Festival” and is now in its 27th year.
The main event, a sake tasting event, will be held in the green space of “Roadside Station Yoshikawa Touji no Sato” in Yoshikawa Ward, and will feature approximately 200 brands of sake from all over Japan, including sake breweries in the prefecture. In addition to gourmet food from local restaurants and booths selling goods, seasonal agricultural products and processed local products such as Ogami soba (buckwheat noodles) will also be on sale at the venue.
There will also be many stage events. The “Kubiki Sake Brewing Song” performed by the Kubiki Toji, which has been sung by the brewers since ancient times, a collaboration show between Yoshikawa Ward hero Yoshaman and the Echigo Uesugi Omotenashi Busyoutai, live performances by the community band Pierce and gospel group J-O-Y Gospel, a performance by the Yoshikawa Junior High School brass band performance, and more.
