The “Kubiki Cycling Digital Stamp Rally” is being held from September 7 (Sat.) to November 17 (Sun.), 2012, to collect stamps by visiting spots at your own pace while enjoying the scenery of the Sea of Japan in Joetsu City and Itoigawa City, Niigata Prefecture.
The area includes Itoigawa Station in Itoigawa City, Naoetsu Station in Joetsu City, around the ruins of Kasuga-yama Castle, and along the Kubiki Bicycle Path. 57 spots have been set aside for the rally. The “Rinrin Stamp Rally” had been held until last year, but this year the number of spots has been increased to more than 50, and for the first time the rally will be held as a digital stamp rally using smart phones.
The first 500 visitors who collect at least 5 stamps during the period will receive a ball-shaped eco-bag as a participation prize, and those who collect at least 15 stamps will be entered into a drawing for a shopping coupon or a ticket to the Umiitari Museum as a prize for fully enjoying the event. If you complete all the spots, you will be entered into a drawing for a special product of Itoigawa City worth 10,000 yen as a full-completion prize.
You can collect stamps in any order and do not need to visit all the stations in one day. You can collect stamps while taking your time around the stations, enjoying the spectacular view of the Sea of Japan, or using the cycle train (between Naoetsu Station and Ichifuri Station).
To participate, download the “Spot tour” app, launch the app, and enable GPS. Search for “Kubiki Cycling” in the app and click the “Join” button. Visit each spot and open the app to get a stamp.

Please note that the Chayagahara section of the Kubiki Bike Path is closed for about 500 meters due to a landslide. In this section, visitors can either get off their bicycles using a temporary ramp and walk along the national road, or take the cycle train between Arimagawa Station and Nadachi Station.
Mr. Miyakoshi, Regional Development Group, Itoigawa Regional Promotion Bureau
This is an event that can be enjoyed by those who do not normally ride bicycles. Even mom’s bicycle is OK. We hope you will enjoy a relaxing tour of the area with your family and friends.”
