The Sado Island Galaxy Art Festival 2024, a triennial art festival set on Sado Island, the largest remote island in the Sea of Japan, is open until Sunday, November 10.
The first Sado Island Galaxy Art Festival was held in 2021, with 20 artists exhibiting their works and about 15,000 visitors.This year’s theme is “Return Ports of the Past and Future,” and artworks will be exhibited, workshops and live performances will be held at various locations around the island, mainly in the Ryotsu area, as well as guided tours to view the art festival.

More than 20 artists from Japan and abroad are participating, with 25 works on display.

Popular guided tours of the Art Triennale are scheduled through November, including tours of exhibited works and historical buildings, traditional performing arts and folk song workshops, Geopark tours, and tours that include art events and meals prepared with local ingredients.

General admission is 3000 yen, high school students are 1500 yen, elementary and junior high school students are 1000 yen, and children under elementary school age are free.
