The resort hotel “APA Resort Joetsu Myoko” in Okemi, Myoko City, Niigata Prefecture, has a new “infinity pool” overlooking the majestic Mt. Myoko and a “barrel sauna” where guests can enjoy sauna in a natural setting.
APA Resort Joetsu Myoko is a resort hotel where you can enjoy natural hot springs and various sports activities in a rich natural location.
The new infinity pool and barrel sauna are the centerpiece of the season, located outdoors on the south side of the main building.
An infinity pool is one in which the poolside edge is not built, and the surface of the water is raised to the very edge, allowing the pool to assimilate with the scenery and enjoy the view as if it were floating in mid-air. At APA Resort Joetsu Myoko, the western edge of the pool is not provided, allowing guests to look directly at the natural beauty of Myoko and the majestic Mt.
The pool is 8 meters long, 5.2 meters wide, and 1.1 meters deep. The maximum number of users is 12.
At night, the pool can be used as a night pool, and from the poolside terrace, visitors can enjoy special seats to watch the fireworks held on specific days, as well as the “Hillside Deck – TAKIBI-” artist events held every weekend.
Two barrel saunas have been installed at the poolside with a view of Mt. Myoko from the inside. Both have different specifications, one made of Japanese cypress and the other of foreign red cedar, and both offer a sauna experience in the great outdoors.
Outside air bathing is available on the poolside terrace, and the sauna room, pool, and poolside terrace all offer views of Mt. Myoko.
Both use electric stove-type sauna heaters to enjoy self-launge. Use is limited to two couples, with a maximum of six people per unit.
Both the pool and sauna are by appointment only. The hours of operation are from 9:00 a.m. to 8:45 p.m., with 1 hour and 45 minutes of use per session.
As a commemoration of the opening, the barrel sauna is also available for free with pool use until Sunday, September 1. During the pool operation period, there is no water bath, so please use the cold water shower.
From Monday, September 2 to Saturday, November 16, only the sauna will be open. You can use the pool as a water bath and take an outdoor air bath by the pool. Special rates are available this season to celebrate the opening.
Kazushi Motoya, President and CEO of APA Group
Mr. Motoya said, “APA Resort Myoko originally had an indoor pool, but due to its advanced age, we decided to introduce an outdoor infinity pool and barrel sauna. The facility can be used as a pool in the summer and as a barrel sauna in the spring and summer, making it a facility that can be used in three seasons. We hope that visitors who have not visited before will come and visit us.”
