Mizubasho (Asian skunk cabbage) around “Imori-ike” in Myoko Plateau, Myoko City, Niigata Prefecture, is now at its best. It is expected to continue until the first half of a major holiday weekend.
Around 100,000 Mizubasho (Asian skunk-cabbage) plants grow wild around Imori-ike Pond.
According to the Myoko Plateau Visitor Center, located by the pond, the Mizubashou began blooming around the 10th of this month, as usual, and is now in its 7th minute of bloom. There is a walking path around the pond, where tourists enjoyed viewing and photographing the Mizubasho (Asian skunk-cabbage) on Monday, March 21.
Visitors
I love this place,” said one visitor, ”the autumn leaves in fall and the Mizubashou in spring. (I think it’s just like the name says, so pretty.
I came here for the first time, but the Mizubasho (Asian skunk-cabbage) was just right. It was cloudy at the top of the mountain, but it was nice to see Myoko and the forest.
According to the Visitor Center, last year, due to the lack of snowfall, the flowers started blooming a week earlier than usual and fell by the end of April. This year, however, due to the snowfall last month, the best time to see the flowers will last until the first half of Golden Week, which is this weekend.
Myoko Plateau Visitor Center, Mr. Kobayashi
The Mizubasho (Asian skunk-cabbage) at Imori Pond is small and lovely. It is pleasant just to walk around the pond, but there are also many Mizubashou along the wooden path and a small forest, so I would like you to take a walk there as well.
