SWAP & MEET in Myoko, an event where valuable classic cars from all over Japan gather at Akakura Onsen in Myoko City, Niigata Prefecture, will be held for two days on April 20 (Sat.) and 21 (Sun.).
Swap & Meet in Myoko is the first event to be held this year. Swap & Meet is an event held mainly overseas to showcase classic cars, promote friendship among owners, exchange parts, buy and sell parts, and pass them on to the next generation.
The event was planned by Mr. Ogino, who spent a long time in New Zealand and moved to Akakura, Myoko City after returning to Japan the year before last. In an effort to bring life to Akakura Onsen during the green season, Mr. Ogino, a classic car enthusiast, planned and prepared for this event, modeling it after a “swap and meet” he used to participate in in New Zealand.
The event will feature valuable classic cars from all over the country. Some of the oldest cars on display will be 100 years old. Classic car enthusiasts will display their cars, exchange information and parts, and buy and sell cars. The event will also feature a variety of rare treasures that are not often seen at other classic car events, such as cars that no longer run and cars without license plates.
At the event site, there will be automotive goods, craft goods, and local products for sale, as well as delicious gourmet food from a total of 23 kitchen car vendors. In addition, a live band will perform, and a special dog run space will be set up so that you and your dog can participate in the event together.
There will also be a Retro Fashion Contest, where entrants will dress up in fashions from 1900 to 1974. The number one fashion will be decided by the visitors’ votes.
Free parking is available near the venue, so visitors can come by car. In addition, shuttle buses will run between the venue and Myoko Kogen Station during these two days, making it possible for visitors to come by train.
