Yume Bouken , an accommodation facility adjacent to Myoko Suginohara Ski Resort in Myoko City, Niigata Prefecture, has begun offering original sake that can only be consumed here.
Yume Boken was established in 1988 by the father of the current owner, Kenji Shimoe, after he moved to the area from Hyogo Prefecture. Mr. Shimoe took over management from his father, and the couple has been running the business for the past six years.
The inn, nestled in the wilderness of Myoko, is adjacent to the Myoko Suginohara ski resort, with a lift running right behind the building. Because of its location, the inn is used by people from all over Japan who come to enjoy skiing and snowboarding.
Yume Boken was looking for a new service that would please its guests, and through an introduction from the Japan Finance Corporation, we decided to start offering an original sake that can only be tasted by staying at the inn, using the services of the Chiyonomitsu Sake Brewery in Myoko City.
This is our original sake “Yume”.
This sake has a refreshing taste with a rich flavor unique to Japanese sake that comes through later. It has a flavor that goes well with beef dishes such as steak and grilled beef, which are the main course of the dinner. The sake was brewed by Chiyonohikari Sake Brewery, which also makes sake in the rich natural environment of Myoko City.
The brewery focuses on assemblages, in which multiple original sake and other sake from the same brewery are blended to suit your tastes. Yume Boken used a service called “My Craft Chiyo” to create the world’s one and only custom-made sake.
Shimoe is a weak drinker and can hardly drink sake, but by combining her favorite sake and junmai daiginjo, she was able to create a sake that is easy to drink and has a refreshing taste, even for those who are weak drinkers.
Although individuals and sake stores have used “My Craft Chiyo” to sell original sake, this is the first time a lodging facility has made and offered its own original sake.
The product name is “Yume,” one letter taken from the name of the facility. The label is inspired by Mt.
This sake is offered only to guests. According to Shimoe, the sake is more popular than expected as an accompaniment to dinner, and many people like the taste and buy it as a souvenir.
Prices are 1,200 yen for 300ml and 2,500 yen for 720ml, both including tax.
