At the Takada Castle Site Park, where lotus flowers are in full bloom, a “Sotouren” has been found. A “Sotouren” is a lotus which has two flowers attached to one stem. It has been seen for the first time in two years, and has become a hot topic. “Sotouren” has yet to bloom as of August 2nd .
The “Sotouren” was found in the Kanren Garden, along the edge of Nishibori(west moat) in Takada Castle Site Park. The variety is “Seiko Koren”. It was discovered on the morning of July 31st, by the park manager. Two flowers on one stem is a mutation that appears once in every 20,000 to 30,000 lotuses. In China, it has long been said to be a flower of good fortune, and represents a happy married life for a couple.
According to the management office, it was the first time in two years since the Sotouren was last confirmed in Takada Castle Site Park when it was found in Kitabori (north moat).
At the Takada Castle Site Park, the “Kanrenkai”(Lotus-Viewing Event), where you can enjoy lotus viewing, is currently being held, and many people, including photography lovers, are visiting. Would you like to find this one in 30,000 “Sotouren” that brings happiness?
