At Kaminariishi Farm, located in Fukuda, Nakagou-ku, Joetsu City, Niigata Prefecture, visitors can enjoy picking blueberries, which are in season now.
Kannarishi Farm grows approximately 400 blueberries of 20 varieties on a 25-area field.
Harvesting began in late June, and now the “Rabbit Eye” variety is ripening. According to Mr. Tokichi Kojima, the fruit sometimes dropped due to rain during the rainy season, but since there were many sunny days from late July, the fruit grew better than last year and was harvested about 1 cm earlier than last year.
Tokichi Kojima, Kaminariishi Farm
This year, the weather in July was not favorable, and the berries crumbled, rotted, and fell off. Rabbit Eye will be in its prime from now on. I hope you will come and enjoy them.”
There are many varieties of “Rabbit Eye,” including the sweet “Maine Date” and the sour “Tiff Blue.
Mr. Tokichi Kojima
Blueberries ripen only on the tree. I want you to pick the most delicious berries, the ones you like.
