Kotake Confectionery in Minami-takada, Joetsu City, which is well-known for the soul food “Sand-pan(cream sandwich)” that has been popular in Joetsu City, Niigata Prefecture for many years.  The store has started selling the seasonal special sand-pan “Chestnut cream with candied chestnut”.

It is a seasonal special sand-pan “Chestnut cream with candied chestnut”.

The sand-pan is filled with a moderately sweet chestnut cream, which is a mixture of all-natural fresh cream from Hokkaido, chestnut paste, and bean paste.  And on top of that, there is a whole large candied chestnut. The fluffy bread and the low-sweetness mildly sweet cream go very well together.

Ms. Kayoko Kotake, the store manager, said, “We are particular about the rare natural cream from Hokkaido. We want everyone to appreciate the natural scent because it does not contain artificial fragrance.  Also, you can enjoy the satisfying flavor and texture of our bread, which is different from sponge cake.  I want everyone to eat delicious food and enjoy the autumn season. “

Kotake Confectionery sells a special series of sand-pan with seasonal ingredients such as large blueberries and Shine Muscat grapes for a limited time, according to the season.

Chestnut cream with candied chestnut will be on sale for a limited time until around December.  Make sure to call ahead to make sure this special fall treat is still available.

In addition, the popular “An-nama (bean paste and whipped cream) Truffle,” which was sold only in winter at the store, is on sale all year round starting this year.  There are 3 types of truffles with 2 layers of characteristic fresh cream and seasonal flavor paste.  Please try this as well.

■ “Joetsu Baked Sweet Potato An-nama Truffle” 324 yen (tax included) ・ ・ ・ Sweet potato paste baked in rice husks.  The sugar content is 28 degrees
